DescriptionI mentioned in the post for my first Ron Garney commission, that it wasn't EXACTLY what I had hoped for. Ron interpreted an unmasked black suit Spidey, as a Peter Parker in battle with Venom. While my first piece is a lot more dynamic, I have always wanted an homage to the cover of "Amazing Spider-Man" #539, of which the Dutch translation back in 2007 was my second ongoing Spidey comic I bought in a shop. But the cover left such an impression. The follow-up story in #542 with Spidey vs Kingpin is still one of my favorite issues, too, especially that moment with Peter unmasking to beat Kingpin as Peter - not as Spidey. So when Ron got announced for Terrificon in the summer of 2019, I asked him to do a mixture of both my ideas. But I wasn't planning on going to Terrificon. While I was in the States for a road trip on the West Coast, I couldn't get to the convention. So I reached out to Lockswood Loot, wired him the money and he took care of everything. Great service and impeccable communication! The result speaks for itself, with it being both a reflection of my favorite cover by Ron and my favorite page of art by Ron. It truly shows a Peter Parker, "Back in Black", who's out for business. Size is a whopping 11x17, done on a Marvel art board. I had this idea since 2007 and it came out exactly how I wanted it. A grail piece in every sense of the word. PS. Funnily enough, I posted it in a Facebook group and instantly got two messages asking if I would sell it to them. Then you know you got a great piece. Realy like the rougher look and how the background was incorporated! Takes me back to "Back in Black" :) Congrats!

Thanks, K! I'm still amazed about that background, because that was totally at Ron's discretion. He just went all-out with my request...

An awesome & gritty take on (in my opinion) the best Amazing Spider-Man cover ever.

Thanks so much, Brian! Very happy with how this turned out - as you can read, this piece was long in the making & I've always had a soft spot for that badass cover.
