DescriptionSkulls and Lizards and sewers - oh, my! That can only mean one thing - Halloween!(…which makes me think I may need to re-examine my current relationship with the holiday…?) The Lizard is even dressed up in his suit and tie here for the occasion…. Trick or treat! Cartman (from South Park) makes a cameo, too... Visual texture is the name of the game on this one, with dollops of bricks and shadows and grates and scales combining with the negative space of Taskmaster’s white cape to create a really vibrant and interesting composition. The fantastic inks by John Livesay keep everything crisp and clean (it's very interesting to look at the pencil details that weren't inked in) while getting down and dirty in the sewers with The Lizard and Taskmaster. Thanks again so VERY much, K!! Happy Halloween, all! Social/Sharing |

Bachalo's art is always so interesting to look at. I scan around for all the small details.

Your comment about pencils left uninked is interesting. I find I like Bachalo more or less dependent on who is inking him. In this case, it sounds like Livesay reigned things in a bit which I appreciate. The Lizard alone represents a lot to look at!

Yeah - great point about inkers, Chris. With such a unique and unorthodox style, the art is really impacted by who specifically interprets Bachalo's pencils. In this particular case, it's easy to see the unlinked pencils on Taskmaster's hood, and how John went with a slightly smoother, slightly less (but still plenty) rumpled look with the Hood. Thanks, as always, Chris (and all!) for the comments!

Nice art of course but a look at your galleries name reveals either a possible problem or a swollen ego. Lol. Why is your gallery now called gallery? Is that your rap name? Gallery in da house! How is anyone meant to find you on the site? Thats why mine is just my name.

First off, congratulations on becoming a member of the excusive BLiP club! Second, I don't know why I always do it, but I guess I just feel compelled to mention that I grew up appreciating realism in illustration and was never a big fan of the cartoonier or more abstract styles in comic books. I think the reason I feel compelled to mention it is because I've noticed how much I've actually come to appreciate these types of styles, slowly yet surely over the years and Bachalo's abstract style is one of those. I love how Lizzy is dressed, as it's classic. The entire page is lovely, but of course the money shot panel is fabulous. Now...screw you guys, I'm going home!

"Don’t you know the first law of Bachalo art? Anything that’s fun costs at least eight dollars.” –Cartman
“No, that’s wrong, Cartman. But don’t worry. There are no stupid answers, just lizard people.” –Mr. Garrison

Really is a great central shot of the Lizard there, and that coat and tie take it over the top! Definitely a sweet Bachalo/Livesay example in person. Congrats! And welcome to CB Lizard club, and happy Halloween!

Bachalo's over the top rendition of the (iguana) lizard really made these issues shine.

Very cool Amazing Spider-Man page by Chris Bachalo and John Livesay! You've got the Lizard and Taskmaster and tons and tons of bricks! What more could any Spider-man fan ask for?

Beautiful page! Congrats on the addition, that middle panel alone you could study for quite some time!
