But... there WAS NO Weird Fantasy 23.

Okay, so I had asked an artist friend of mine to come up with the cover of the next issue of Weird Fantasy had the title continued. He asked me for a vague description of what I was looking for in the cover and I trusted him to go from there. I did not know what I was getting until I opened up the package and I was impressed. This was the first commission I asked of him and I liked it so much we did the same for another. The layout and design feels like it fits within the title had it continued. According to Kav, he took his influence for this image from Frazetta. The image focuses on three space-women, with strong, stylized facial features showcasing a mid-century pin-up influence mixed with pulp sci-fi tropes of the time period by way of the little space lizards floating about the spaceship.

Very pleased to add this to my collection and online gallery.

Fun homage with elements of old EC sci-fi and a bit of new modern indie horror! You can see Kav did his homework.

He is definitely a student of the game. I know he has done some published work and I try to get him to do commissions for people. I like the Weird Science cover he did for me. I might ask him for a horror cover next.
