DescriptionThe second of two sequential pages I have from this issue. The Question is one of my all-time favorite series and I loved the storytelling by Dennis O'Neil and Denys Cowan. Originally a Charlton character that DC acquired the rights to in the '80s, O'Neil decided to have The Question (seemingly) brutally murdered in the first issue in order to rediscover himself and emerge as a stronger hero with a more complex view on life. That immediately gave the title a much grittier crime noir feel and new credibility. By issue #3, The Question is still believed to be dead and Vic Sage has gone missing, but both are gearing up for a revival. This two page sequence perfectly summarizes the origin of The Question, his disguise, his relationship with his confidant and advisor "Tot" (Aristotle), and even his set of wheels. Page 11 shows the transformation from Vic Sage to The Question as he applies his mask and activates the gas from his belt buckle. Page 12 explains the mystery behind The Question's VW Bug fully equipped with a Porsche engine and Ferrari transmission hidden under the rough exterior. What more do you need to know about The Question other than what's explained on these two pages? Lol The Question #3 "Suffer the Children" April, 1987 Social/Sharing |

Magyar's inks really sell the mood with the snowstorm being as effective element to create disguise and mystery. Cowan's mix of the interior and exterior shots sets up these Magyar inks to be so effective.
