Description"Next time, we get our retaliation in first!"The Daily Star Dredd's by the legend that is Ron Smith are an absolute joy. I always loved this particular helping - Ron condenses the Apocalypse War down to less than a dozen panels - genius! The Daily Star (A UK newspaper) ran the Judge Dredd strip from 1981 to 1998, and these were self contained stories, that never linked up to the Dredd stories in 2000ad. The only time an exception to that rule was made, was for the Apocalypse War. And as of late 2014, the complete run of strips are being reprinted for the very first time. An essential purchase, if ever there was. EDIT: Incredibly saddened to hear the news (10/1/19) of the passing of Ron Smith at the grand old age of 94. A true legend, and someone who's art I absolutely adored. Nobody captured the sheer craziness of MC1 like Ron. So many, many memorable stories that he drew, and characters that he created are forever in my memory. His Dredd legacy is without a doubt assured. RIP and thank you, Ron Smith 1924 - 2019 Social/Sharing |

A proper piece of both Daily Star and Apocalypse War history. I didn't realise it was the only crossover with 2000 AD Dredd. And Ron Smith is superb as ever. Great stuff!

A bit of a classic in its own right, this. Ron demonstrates his mastery of the medium here; I struggle to think of anyone who could condense one of the great epics down to a handful of panels as well as it's done here. Great to see it has a good home, Iain!

Actually there was a Walter story where he gets his freedom - that would be a crossover too!
