Description

I never knew until I looked it up just now that Elliot Caplin wrote "The Heart of Juliet Jones"* (Al Capp's brother, I only knew that he had written "Abbie an' Slats")! So we have him to thank for, "You look like you came in last in a smiling contest."

This piece, from late-ish in Stan Drake's tenure on the strip, is a bit marred by the discolored zip-a-tone, but the characters are beautifully rendered.

(I also enjoy that Eve uses the term "Glamourpuss," which much later became the title of Dave Sim's eccentric magazine, which very specifically paid tribute to artists like Stan Drake.)

Not sure what is going on with the black area that Eve seems to be leaning her head against in the last panel.

*Even though Wikipedia states he is "best known" for THOJJ!

I prefer the aged Zip over aged markers any day. It has nice good girl faces and they really stand out as fresh and light because of the zip patterns.

Good point -- better than faded markers. I must learn to love the greenish patina...
