Description

It's safe to say that Mysterio underestimated the ol' wall crawler this time around. The usual trickery and deception had no effect when all that really mattered was the meat.

I am a huge fan of Dragotta's overall work and style. I thought that East of West is one of the best Image series out there. A lot but not all of his art is digital, so I am beyond thrilled to add my first published page from him to the collection. This page is right up my alley too. Zombie Spider-Man? Yep, that's all it takes. I know the superhero plus zombie equation might not appeal to all, but I could probably argue that Spider-Man and horror are two of my favorite interests in comics. Monsters and dinosaurs are great too, for the record :)

Now to take a closer look at this page. There really is something to like in every panel.

It starts with a traditional Mysterio illusion that interrupts Spider-Man mid meal, chomping on a Kraven leg. The page before this leaves no mystery as to what happened to Kraven either. I really like how Dragotta illustrated this entire story and this specific page only gets better as it goes.

Next is the signature half Peter half Spidey face which allows us to see how crazed Peter really is.

The third panel could possibly be my favorite. We the reader get to see through the eyes of Zombie Spider-Man whose Zombie Senses are already tingling. We immediately realize that Mysterio's tricks do not work at all when you have meat vision! Fantastic use of first person perspective here by Nick.

The final two panels need no explanation, but I find them to be excellent action sequences and just awesome panels. Nick has done a fantastic job in regard to detail, form, and character design on both. Love how he continued to draw both characters outside of the margins. Helps convey that Spider-Man is fully extending at the correct angle to grab that brain. Yum.

Overall, I love the story progression found in this one single page. We see Mysterio come and go in a matter of five panels.

Big thanks go to Vincent and Micah at Metropolis Comics/Comic Connect, and Francis for helping me get this awesome page! Thank you very much guys!!!

KRRASHing the party and eating out of the punch bowl is not going to get you invited to the next one.

Oh man, panel 4 to 5 is nuts! Love it, and was genius to actually draw the sound effect lettering in the bg! Congrats!

They are insane! I really love that the whole story is told in 5 panels, but the last two are bangers. I was so happy to get this page. Still am.

Great Spidy page, specifically the top right panel.
