DescriptionMy very first page from Infinity Gauntlet!I've been wanting one for a long long time, and then this one popped up in the most recent ComicLink auction. When I saw the first panel with Spider-Man kicking Thanos in the face, I knew this was the one I had been waiting for. Then you get those great panels of Thor flying in and meting out some "hammer justice" on the Mad Titan, which brought to mind the various events of the two Avengers Infinity War movies. You even get some Spidey humor: "He's all yours, Thor! I'll take care of the bimbo." "I think." Ron Lim was the penciler on this page, with possible layouts by George Perez as he only penciled the first nine or ten pages of the issue. Inks are by the fabulous Joe Rubinstein. Thanks for looking! Congratulations on acquiring such an action packed page, bookended by my 2 favourite panels! I have to ask though, because I remember asking myself this same question when I first read the story in 1991: If you're a god powerful enough to lay waste to entire universes, would the momentum from a kick from a human being, even one with the proportional speed and strength of a spider, be enough to move you back by any degree at all? Personally, I always thought that any physical attack on a comic book god by any non-god character would/should result in the same effect that would occur when any human in the real world swings into a concrete wall. Which is to say, nothing at all, except perhaps some damage to the person swinging. This is something along the lines of the nerdy "Who's stronger, the Hulk or The Thing?" conversation, but far more adult because it involves physics. What do you think? Oh, and "Methinks thou dost protest too much!" is NOT a valid answer. 😆

Okay, if x stands for the strength of Thanos, and y is the proportionate strength & speed of Spider-Man, and Newton's second law tells us that F=ma, with average acceleration equaling delta V over delta T, then the answer is (of course) the square root of ... of ... what the hell was I talking about? Seriously though, you raise a valid point, and I guess the answer would be that it's all well and good to have super powerful, godlike character in your story, that is until you wish to write a really great battle scene between one of those guys and, say, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. So I think you are expected to suspend disbelief a bit in order to enjoy a battle that would normally be waaaaay lopsided.. Then again, Spidey does have a firm grasp of science and physics, so he probably knows how to use those principles to throw a mad Titan off his balance with a simple kick. Ya just gotta know what you're doing I guess. As Archimedes said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." Okay, I'll stop there, cuz I think I stopped making sense about, oh, seven words into this reply. But it sure has been fun! Thanks for the comment!

Well this may come as a bit of a surprise to you then, because that is indeed the correct answer!

Every panel with great action! If you were looking for an IG example, Paul, you could've done a lot worse! Lim, Thanos, Spidey, Thor, panel to panel action...this one's got it all, as they say. Big congrats!

Thanos must die! Noice! This is one of my favorite Lim pages from one of my very favorite issues. Lim working from Perez layouts produced awesome work. And, no, Spidey is not able to deal with the bimbo. Big congrats!
