Description

Even among an industry so deeply stacked with talent, I can't think of anyone who creates with color more beautifully than Brian Stelfreeze. His mastery with the pen and brush is amazing to behold, but his paintings - whoa. The compositions, the layers, the vibrancy - there is always something next level to admire.

When Mr. Stelfreeze was announced for the first OAX, I put in a commission request and crossed my fingers. I couldn't recall seeing a Jackman from him before, and given Brian's skill with likenesses, I hoped that would pique his interest. Luckily, it did! Brian told me he was not particularly interested in Wolverine, but Hugh Jackman *was* interesting. The hair gave him something fun to work with.

I scanned this piece multiple ways, trying to capture how rich this is in person. Ultimately, what you see is a bit more saturated than reality, but it did the best at giving some indication of how Brian built this up. And I haven't even talked about the novelty of how he integrated the fist, claws and tank. It's a stunner - a highlight of my year and of my entire collection.

Wow. I can practically feel my hands running through his soft chest hair. Ah. I may have said too much. So nearly 2025, hey?

Stelfreeze might be the most seasoned of all the painters in the room. His choices for color mix and match could be studied by everyone else!
