DescriptionAfter trying for a couple years now, I finally got a Chris Sprouse commission! Chris is one of my favorite artists (as you can tell from looking at my galleries) I was thrilled when an opportunity came up with some time in his schedule to take on a commission for me. I wanted Chris to do something I hadn't seen him do before. I love his Supreme, Tom Strong, Justice League, Black Panther, Legion, Star Wars, and other work, but wanted to see him do something I hadn't seen before. I have a big soft spot for the 1940's era Justice Society, and decided to have him do a piece with a few of my favorite characters. SO pleased with how this turned out. Chris is one of the greats. He let me know that he had done an initial version that he was not happy with, and decided to start over, but that he would send that piece to. I figured it was a pencil version that he decided to redo...no, it was a fully inked completed piece that he just felt he could do better on.this is the initial version he re-did. Chris is a perfectionist and a master artist, and it shows in his work and dedication. Social/Sharing |

This looks great, I wonder what he was dissatisfied with

Thanks! Not sure. If I had to pick between the two, I would say the final version is my favorite. I prefer the view looking slightly down on them, rather than up. But I would never have thought anything was "wrong" with this one.

I love this! You just might have the best Chris Sprouse gallery on CAF.

I love it too! Thank you! I am definitely a huge Sprouse fan, so I always try and get his work when I can : )

I like the initial effort better, although there is not a lot of difference between the two other than the removal of some flags and a change in placement of the trio.

Yeah, I think the main difference for me is the initial one has the viewer looking up at the the crew, whereas the final one has a slight down angle on them. I go back and forth on which one I like best. They are both phenomenal, and further proof that Chris is a top notch artist and overall guy!
