I was excited to pick this up earlier this year. James Gurney is a super talented artist and storyteller. he writes an amazing blog and has a hefty YouTube channel. his dinotopia work was mind blowing for me. just incredible stuff. he seems to turn out an incredible amount of work but I rarely see anything for sale. I wish there was more available. im not sure why or when this one was done and my attempts to find out have not turned into much. Gurney has some much tighter similar paintings out there so I wonder if this was a prelim run at something more grand. amazing color up close.

Gorgeous illustration! Reminiscent in some ways of early 20th Century illustrators. I love the details and the bright, vibrant colors. Great pick-up!
