Week three of cover month here at Shemp's gallery. For the month of May I will post 5 new covers, one each sunday.

From 1988. An early cover from the Doom Patrol title relaunch of 1987. Robotman and Tempest hold back Negative Woman on this cool cover by Erik Larsen and Al Gordon. Special guest appearance by Power Girl, drawn in the UPC box as an added bonus.

My collection being very DC centric, I'm very happy to have this early Erik Larsen (of Savage Dragon and Amazing Spider-man fame) cover. He didn't do much work for DC Comics (Doom Patrol, Outsiders and Aquaman are the titles I can think of) before joining Marvel Comics. I've seen very few early pages fro him, so to have a cover is great.

That's my thought on Larsen's DC work as well. Short stint rarity for that part of his career, so get the ones you like before others catch on. Looks like you cherry picked one of the best from that time period.

Larsen's take on the then-recent but already classic Kevin Maguire cover to the "one punch" issue of Justice League. He did a great job with it. Congrats on adding it to your collection!

What?!?! You never realized this was the , I believe, first homage to that cover? It also didn't come all that long afterwards. It was fun to have been around at that time. I bought both covers off the stands as I was collecting both titles. Very cool, and I actually really enjoyed Larsen's work when he first broke in with DC. Great stuff!

KILLER cover! I too remember buying this one fresh off the stands as well as the Justice League #5. Such a great time in comics. Makes me want to go read some of the good stuff right now!

Hey Shemp!

Any chance I can get a nice High-Res Scan of this? This was done because Andy snuck the similar JLA Cover to Rube without telling me. And was a bit of an ass. So Erik, who worked in the Studio with me, asked me to Ink this. REALLY Nce of Him!!!
