DescriptionI was very fortunate to pickup this great Paul Pelletier art recently from 2009 featuring Skaar vs. Red Hulk. Based on what I could find on the Internet, this was supposedly an unused cover for Greg Pak’s Incredible Hulk run. I don't believe it's been published, but per the artist, "It was a warm up test for Vicente Cifuentes inks right before we did Fall of the Hulks Alpha".I was able to find an image of the Cifuentes inked version which I'm including here as well as the prelims which were included with the art. Nothing against the inking, but I actually prefer the original pencil version as the pencils are so tight and dramatic. Please let me know if you have any other info about this piece. Love the Pelletier pencils. This is a killer depiction of the Hulk and Skaar. The problem with the inking is that it is overwrought. Everything he needed is already right there in the pencils, but as many younger guys in this biz tend to do, Cifuentes wanted to impress the editor by adding in far more detail than was necessary. Pelletier dreww all the broken wall and rebar perfectly, but Cifuentes couldn't help adding unecessary detail. Great looking piece, Ted.

Agreed Ruben. I love Rick Magyar's inking over Pelletier, because he adds definition, but doesn't change too much.

The rebar is pretty cool and you don't often find them in comics because of the problems in showing angles of a bent cylinders text in perspective. They do add to the industrial feel of the heavy action and aggression.

Pelletier's art is criminally underrated and his run on the Hulk was one for the ages. Love the power in this piece!

Great piece of art and just amazing details. I am a huge fan of Paul's work on pencils. His stuff is always detailed enough to publish directly from pencils. Congrats on a great piece, thanks so much for sharing!

Pelletier really does do a mean Hulk...case in point! And you've got 2 of 'em! I agree, love those pencils, but it is cool to see both versions! Definitely published pin up worthy. Congrats!

Can't believe this was not used for publication. Phenomenal Paul Pelletier achievement of artistic perfection.
