DescriptionIn 2021, my main collecting goal was to pickup nice examples from each of the major artists who worked with Peter David on his epic run on the Hulk. I was fairly successful, but was only able to get a Mike Deodato page without much Hulk on it. Thankfully that's changed in 2022.This is the page 1 splash to Deodato's last Hulk issue, where the Hulk battles an alternate future version of himself (highly influenced by the Heroes Reborn version). It doesn't get much more 90's than this! Big thanks to Marcus Wai for the assist! Marcus posted photos from Bechara's San Francisco art show on CAF and based on one of his images, I got in touch with Saul Z. and was able to purchase this. -------------- May 2022 Update: I confirmed with Tom Wegrzyn that he was actually the inker on Hulk #451-453, which were incorrectly attributed to Deodato Studios. The sad part is that in Hulk #455, Marvel attempted to publish a correction on the letters page, but they made another mistake and incorrectly attributed Wegrzyn with inking Hulk #401-403 as opposed to #451-453. This has resulted in mis-attributed art on comics.org (Grand Comics Database), which hopefully we can get fixed at some point. Social/Sharing |

Oh wow, I don't know how you can get more Deodato Hulk per square inch on a single page than this splash! Congrats!

Congrats on nailing down the Deodato portion of your Hulk art quest, Ted, and what a way to do it. Are you kidding me?!? What a banger!

The earlier Deodato pieces are incredible with raw power and attitude with the panel borders that splinter apart from trying to contain all that muscle! The assist only counts when you make the score! Congratulations!

Thanks Dave! I wonder if Deodato really let loose because he knew it was his last issue? Too bad he wasn't on the book longer, but of course Adam Kubert's run was also pretty great. Now I just need to try and find one of the rare Joe Kubert pages.

One more Hulk, and you've got yourself a meme. That's a great goal, and so cool that you could get that last piece. That couldn't have been easy! And what a sweet Hulked-out splash, too. That ragged border was also a great touch. Sweet score. Congrats!

Epic page. I always love when the Hulk fights an alternate version of himself. It really is the only way to make it a fair fight. ;-)
