Daniel Warren Johnson (of Wonder Woman Earth) - Space Mullet #3 p 45

No trajectory is currently on a higher trajectory than Daniel Warren Johnson - the sky is the limit for this once in a generation talent. As we now know, DWJ is as good of a writer and artist as they come, and Space Mullet is really where it all began. While he was beginning to pick up work from various publishers, he dedicated himself to this webcomic as a way of sharpening his writing and drawing skills - as well as giving him more material from which he could showcase and gain attention. Dark Horse would later publish this webcomic, but it�s original form (along with his real time commentary about each page) still lives online. This splash is a special one. From a narrative perspective, it tells you everything you need to know about Peggy Sue. A few pages prior, Slope ordered her to throw the next derby race, or face the consequences. Next thing you know, she is here in this inspiring splash page training away - making it clear she has no intention on anything other than victory. This also has a great representation of all the things that make DWJ a standout artist - from the detailed world-building to the kinetic energy on display.

Awesome page! DWJ draws the viewer's eye right to the tiny subject, the motion is so well indicated, and I love the feel of the vast empty arena.
