DescriptionWhen it comes to the why behind what makes the post crisis/Triangle Era of Superman stories so wonderful, it comes down to the joy and optimism they represent, as well as humanizing Superman’s world by featuring colorful, relatable citizens of Metropolis! Few characters represent that better than Bibbo Bibbowski! When the time was right to request another commission from Jerry, I knew Bibbo had to be in there given the fact that Jerry created him! What better way to represent Superman & Bibbo’s relationship than having them share a drink in Bibbo’s bar (Soder Cola of course for Superman!). So that was the request, what I got in return absolutely floored me! I love the story that this piece tells! I love all of the added details, the guy helping himself to another beer as everyone is distracted, the befuddled police officer and who is that behind him? Yup! That’s Superman’s other pal…Jimmy Olsen! This piece brings me so much joy and captures the spirit of that post-crisis, pre-death era so perfectly! If at all interested, I did an unboxing video for this commission. I hadn’t seen a preview image so the reaction was the first time seeing the art! https://youtu.be/ZhOJPzsFGUc?si=66hDeXu8Dy5FGTZt Social/Sharing |

Ordway really brings a retro charm to the 50's Superman stories when it was a lot more wholesome. Bibbo is us with that innocent enthusiasm and fandom from afar when Jimmy took on more roles within the stories.

Jerry's art is incredibly charming, even when drawing a post bar fight celebration!

I had to stop myself during our chat when you mentioned Bibbo since I knew this one was coming in the mail! Who doesn't love Bibbo right? This definitely captures that fun charming appeal of this era of Superman stories!
