Superman ‘78 #2, page 5 by Wilfredo Torres. The Superman ‘78 mini series gave us a taste of what another Superman sequel would have been like during the Christopher Reeve era. Wilfredo Torres did an excellent job capturing the likenesses of all the actors, which made the whole story much more enjoyable. Fortunately I was able to grab this page directly from Wilfredo and add Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor to the ColLEXion. A year or so ago Jerry Ordway was kind enough to provide me with my first Hackman Lex but this is my first published piece featuring Hackman’s criminal mastermind. An interesting thing to note on this piece is that Wilfredo decided to do the artwork on two 11x15 pieces of art board stacked on top of each other vs the traditional 11x17 art board that a lot of the book was done in. Here we have Superman bringing Lex the head of one of Brainiac’s drones, hoping that Lex can help him figure out what they’re up against. Lex, in his typical fashion, agrees to help the Man of Steel while still managing to toss an underhanded insult in Superman’s direction. Just a fun page with two classic characters.

Very fun piece as you get a performance of both actors presented by Torres. Esecially nice is the Reeve charm that is both innocent and endearing.

Very fun page! Love that the Brainiac drones look like Brainiac's early 80's redesign when he became a robotic being. Great use of that design!
