DescriptionI had David Finch draw this Highly Detailed Batman commission for me back in 2007. It was done at a time when Finch was under an exclusive contract with Marvel and he expressed to me how much he'd love to draw the character of Batman. Fast forward a few years and he has had his wish granted, not only working for DC but working on one of his favorite characters, The Batman! This commission, along with a few other Finch drawings I have, were crying to have inks added at some point. I preferred to not have the original pencils touched as the ultra tight detail is too nice to ever cover up. I asked a few top notch artists if they were interested in inking this piece and I was thrilled that Kevin Nowlan accepted the asignment. To my knowledge, Kevin has not inked Finch before and I wasn't sure if their different styles would mesh, but I was willing to find out. Kevin knocked this one out of the park in my opinion and in record time! I feel he kept some of Finch's style intact while adding his own distinct flavor to the piece. I was most impressed with his embellishments to the cape and his addition of the Bat Signal in the cloud draped sky! I hope to have a few other inkers unleash their talents on this piece in the future to see different interpretations, but for now I love the job that Kevin did! Top Notch as always!!! Thank you Kevin!Social/Sharing |

This is an amazing piece. The two styles mesh so well. I can really see a bit of both artists but the best of both. NICE!!

I must say, this wasn't a teaming I would have thought of, but the end result is beautiful!

Holy smokes! Kevin is one of my Art Gods, so to say that this blows me away is a huge understatement. Putting Nowlan inks on this was a stroke of genius! Finch has never looked better! I would be wiling to buy this even WITHOUT the original Finch pencils underneath! Wow!!!!!

I didn't know how their two styles would mesh, but I knew both do a pretty terrific Dark Knight so it would come out special! Glad you liked it!

First of all I love Kevin Nowlan's work and I am a huge fan of Dave Finch ever since the first issues he did on Cyberforce. But somehow for me personally, this doesn't work. it doesn't really look like Nolan or Finch anymore. It's a cool piece in its own right don't get me wrong, it's beautiful. But I guess I am and probably always will be a Finch/Weems kinda person. Having said all this, hats off for actually trying to pair these two anyway.

A new fan of David here, and I have to say that he is unbelievable! A fantastic rendition of Batman by David, and spectacular inks by Kevin!

What a fantastic result. Both talents mesh without losing each other's strong style. Congrats for this stunning piece !
