Beautiful rendition of the "Friday Night Fights" folks loved to attend back in the day... Kaluta's charm (and, of course, Art Deco sensibilities) really take this one to a very special place and imbue it with a sense of it being "the good ol' days"... I love all the fine details (the depths of the windows in the top left building, the cable car's support line precariously close to the robot's hand, the "colors" of the robots themselves, the bricks in the foreground chimney, the detailing on the brownstone's front... could just go on and on...) and overall exuberance on the part of the onlookers (with complete disregard to the quaint notion of personal safety, or the allotted room one should really afford to a city-defending robot's "workspace"...). But even all this isn't enough to make a blip on the radar of the cats in the lower left corner, more interested in the mouse outside their window... What a splendid, splendid piece, D D - so full of life. Congrats on this incredible pick up!

Colors for that series of illos were by Lee Moyer, who also colored Kaluta's "Starstruck." Himself a noted sf artist, based in Portland!
