DescriptionThis is the first of three sequential pages in my collection from the first chapter of Jaime Hernandez’s “Chester Square” storyline in Love and Rockets.Happy to have recently acquired another page from issue #40 of the series that follows Maggie as she travels away from Hoppers. Enero Garcia first appeared in Love and Rockets #15 (1986) before reappearing in this issue. Jaime Hernandez pages from the Chester Square storyline always catch my eye. The Death of Speedy and Wig Wam Bam storylines may grab the most attention from the first volume of L&R but I’ve always felt that Chester Square has some of Jaime’s finest pages and show an almost cinematic approach to storytelling. Thanks for the congrats, J...and apologies? There's something about pages from this storyline that really appeals to me and I tend to pursue them accordingly. I think you called it: Jaime just so effortlessly blends sexiness, humor, and the underlying drama of Maggie separating herself from Hoppers and some of the characters and situations from earlier issues.

No worries. Glad it went to a good home to someone who appreciates the art. "Chester Square" certainly is a compelling story and I'm glad to have a few pages from it, as well. Jaime created great characters that aren't caricatures/one-dimensional and we get to see their emotions in some serious situations.

Just amazing cartooning and glad Jaime decided to put Maggie center stage from here. A perfect array of techniques and perspectives.

Clean and pure cartooning on this page. The abrupt change of mood in the first two panels is great storytelling. The extra panel created by the wall in panel 4 is a unique shot. Then the center panel is the character shot that visually anchors the page. Well balanced in black and white page design.

The passage between panel 1 and 2 and 3, from sexual self-assuredness to frightened timidity, is remarkable. But, most importantly, the passage between page one and two of the whole sequence, to introspection and quiet resolution, is simply marvelous.
Now the hard part: a single large frame or two separate frames hung close to each other ? Hint: whenever I picked one of those two options in the past, I've always regreted not doing the other way arround the second it came back from the framer ...

I think two separate frames is the way to go but I came to that decision only after going back and forth between the options you suggest.

Wow! Fascinating 3-poage sequence from Jamie Hernandez's Love and Rockets! Jaime's pages are always so well drawn and beautifully composed. I love his ability to tell a story. There's a very nice flow from panel to panel which makes the story easy to follow. I also love Jaime's characters. They're unique individuals with believable motivations and they're not the characters I see anywhere else. Above all, I love Jaime's drawing ability. His pages are strongly composed and easy to read. His inks are sharp and crisp and always make his pages look fantastic. Great pick-up, congrats!
