DescriptionAnother new art Sunday here at Shemp's Gallery. This month the focus is on what I call specialty art. Art that was published but not in comic book form.Nerds Candy Batman Detective cards. Made in 1997 these eight trading cards were on the back of Nerd candy boxes. The challenge was to collect all eight cards and figure out "Who stole the Gotham City Diamond." Breyfogle Batman art is getting harder and harder to come by. Pages quickly disappear whenever they come up for sale. I was glad to pick up this piece two years ago. 1997 Nerds Candy Batman Detective card, Batman vs Bane by artist Norm Breyfogle Social/Sharing |

Kick-ass specialty piece! Love the linework on the muscle tone shading!

The motion lines within the figure and especially for the kick is high velocity and power packed. It's a great composition for the card that had to attract kids and adults during a time when the Batman and Robin movie was coming out. Nice cross promotion item.

Norm's art was always high velocity, high impact! For me it was a great example of his style.

A very dynamic image for a trading card, and how great that Breyfogle both pencilled AND inked it. Trading cards have a history of containing the heroes by themselves more often than not, in a typical pinup pose. That they created one of Batman together with Bane in the midst of a Batman head kick to Bane's head is quite exciting!

Don't even think of taking Batman's Nerds, Bane! I love it! Really great piece that shows why Breyfogle will always be remembered as one of the prime Batman artists. Huge congrats!

This has so much going for it! Batman vs Bane with venom tubes is rare. Breyfogle rocked this! Congrats!
