DescriptionThe Secret of NIMH is a 1982 American animated fantasy adventure film directed by Don Bluth in his directorial debut and based loosely on Robert C. O'Brien's 1971 children's novel, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Mrs. Frisby was changed to Mrs. Brisby in the film to avoid any potential legal entanglements with Wham-O (maker of the Frisbee).Mrs. Brisby (voiced by Elizabeth Hartman just a few years before her tragic death), a widowed mother and a fieldmouse, must move her house before it is destroyed by Farmer Fitzgibbon's plow. She does so through the help of Nicodemus (Derek Jacobi) and the other wise rats of NIMH. There’s also Jeremy Crow (voiced in the film by Dom DeLuise, what a voice cast in this one!). Soon Mrs. Brisby is caught in a conflict among the rats, jeopardizing her mission to save her family. The comic adaptation by Western/Golden can be found in a magazine format edition, and a softbound children’s storybook format. The OA pages are large art, and this page predominantly features our comic relief crow. When Mrs. Brisby first meets Jeremy, he is tangled in red string, which he is retrieving to build a "love nest" for his future "Mrs. Right". To prep for the house move, Mrs. Brisby later tasks him with finding more string to use in the block and tackle work. Interject a lot of movie and other plot lines here, and the house gets moved (you’ll just have to watch it) before Jeremy’s return which is featured here near the end of the story. I picked this one up years ago and forgot about it in a plan chest drawer. It has now been scanned and properly added to my oversized page portfolio. Social/Sharing |

Brisby (Brisby, hmmm) hey what'you doing mouse
It seems like yesterday
When it's Fitzgibbon's plow
Jeremy (Jeremy, Crow) you set
The world on fire
You came and NIMH with us
Your Nicodemus
Wiser and Wiser
Secrets out and
We'll be there
At your lines
Oh say you will string
Along forevermore (evermore)
Gonna be some sweet sounds
Move to town on the nightshift
I bet you're stringing proud
Oh I bet you'll pull a mouse
Gonna be a long line
It's gonna be all right
On the nightshift
Oh you found another home
In NIMH you're not alone
On the nightshift

Ahoy there. Another fine one you have crafted for us, Commodore Marcus.

That was when I was collecting on a shoestring budget. Luckily, I didn't get tangled up in a lot of haggling. I had a line on an auction that I kept on a short rope until closing bid. But the whole time I was anxious and my stomach was in knots. Just glad I could loop this one in. Sorry for stringing this story out.

So cool, man! I'm not sure if I've seen other pages. A classic film for many of us brought to comic OA form. Congrats!
