Description

Though I already had purchased another Conan illustration by Ernie Chan, I could not resist purchasing this sketch of Conan battling a gorilla over a �babe� as Mike Burkey described it on Dueling Dealers. This dark colored piece was done in pastel paper.

By this time, Chan's black and white illos were very line heavy, so his paintings had just as much effort in lines as a base layer plus more imagination in his color choices to make it pop. It made for some of the most striking work of his career and this one particular has that raw savagery that clearly tells a story on three levels.
