Description

3 Devils is a creator owned series by Bo Hampton, with the first 4 issues published at IDW. It's a supernatural Western set in the late 1800's and follows a gypsy/Romani girl (Tara), a "zombie" (more the classical voodoo type) and former slave, Marcus, a circus freak "wolfboy" who is actually a werewolf), Oliver and a bounty hunter, Beck. The first arc involves hunting down a vampire (The White Man) who slew Tara's family in front of her.

I met Bo a few years ago at a convention outside Philadelphia and was chatting about his work and a Hawkman & Hawkgirl painting I'd gotten from him. He told me about the 3 Devils series - which I hadn't read - and that he was working on doing a kickstarter to continue the story. I've always been a Western fan but had only had read contemporary urban fantasy like the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Bought a copy, loved it, backed the Kickstarter for issue #5, then the next Kicksarter for #6... and now the Kickstarter for #7 (which is in progress as I write this in June 2025).

I backed at the level to get an original page of art from #6 (because of course I did). Flipping through the available pages with Bo he talked about the challenge of having the 4 characters riding in the wagon and talking together and how he worked through it visually. After that discussion, I picked up that page.

(Should mention Tina got a watercolor commission of the main character as a reward for backing issue #5 - Bo made it the cover of issue #6 which was very cool!)

Nice change of expression for Tara! It's great that a small moment of her smiling can mean so much in the bigger picture.

Nice page and sounds like an interesting book! I really love the look of that final panel.
