Description

Variant cover of Wildcats 1 (2019), the cancelled sequel to Warren Ellis's The Wild Storm (2017); the last mainstream superhero comic to date I enjoyed without reservations.
Few people today seem to have as much gleeful fun drawing mayhem as Burnham does.
Love how the printed blue line underdrawing creates a two tone effect.

This is the kind of cover where Burnham can draw some of his contemporaries and freinds into the crowd scene. They're getting attacked where they are coming from and where they are going. With Jim Lee determined to integrate Wildcats into main DC continuity after he took over in 2020, the question is, did you go back to try the 2022 Rosenberg Wildcats series?

Dear Marcus, yes, but it's too entangled in DC's current continuity and tone, and played too straight for my current taste. Was never a fan of the characters per se as of Ellis and Davis-Hunt's slightly off kilter take on them. And, was and still love Villalobos. Maybe the book will resurface one day ...
