This one is in a different level. A real jewel. Wonderful.
Yes, while Sal was obviously a lesser craftsman than his brother, his 'expressivity' was truly unique.
I've actually come to love the stiltedness of Romita's finishes, the same way I have over the years developped a heartfelt fondness for Swan's stodginess.
What a smart, nice commission idea !
Villarrubia is truly a great artist. His meticulous restauration work on Richard Corben's work is outstanding, I love his illustrations for Alan Moore's Voice of Fire and his colors on Sweet Tooth are truly epochal.
Congratulation !
A one-and-done. Amazing!
Am I crazy or am I seeing hints of Moebius in the women's faces? Drawn the year of his birth, no less
THB was my favorite comic when it came out. This is an ABSOLUTE GRAIL
It "reads" like a sequential comic book page, and a really good one to boot. Truly special !
Among the dozens and dozens of Panter's designs for Pee-wee's Playhouse I've seen over the years, this one is particularly beautiful. Congratulation !
Not quite as high on my wish list as Big Numbers, but still keeping my hopes up.
(Especially since, according to Gillen, there were only 4 more issues to go. Caanan should return for the grand finale if it ever wraps up).
I love it when Jaimie lets himself be more "cartoony". That and the silhouettes, and the lettering of the title and sound effects.
What an absolute beauty.
I've consoled myself with a nifty Bloodstrike page, which I will post soon.
Even better, these yearly single character comissions have become a long-term project of sorts: In 8 years or so, I'll have a perfect Who's Who of the series.
Ha ! I have been staring at this page on ArtDroids, debating as to whether I should pull the trigger, for years. Congratulations !
Iconic Hicklenton, my favorite late '80s British artist, but also iconic Mills : "I am the oy boy ... I am the one grannies fear." Such a treat !
Jesus Redondo's Nemesis and Massimo Belardinelli's Slaine. From what I remember reading, the decision not to reprint their works in those Titan volumes was Pat Mills's. I guess both of these artist's aesthetics looked "old fashioned" , compared to, let's say, O'Neill's or Fabry's.
Great page. Congratulation!
Ben Radis is one of the unsung French greats of the late 80s !
Betto is such an outstanding artist. In hindsight, I wish my L&R collection had been better balanced between the two brothers. Congratulation !
As most historical 2000 AD contributors are now commanding prices far beyond my means, I have started looking at some of their more contemporary artists. I have acquired a page by Leigh Gallagher, one by Henry Flint, and one by Clint Langley, and have been seriously considering looking for a Patrick Goddard next. This page certainly makes a case for it. Wonderful.
It's incredible that Pogo never faltered, well into the 1970s. Beautiful.
Gorgeous spread from McMahon's best period. Doesn't get better than that.
Thank you. One my favorite 2000 AD pieces in my collection. Unfortunately, the previoous owner trimmed the board.
I really loved his work when it first came out, channelling quite a bit of Golden's fluidity. And, many years later, I became a fan again of his more photorealistic style. He left us too soon. Great post. Thank you.
Had no idea Dario Argento, who is one of my favorite filmaker, scripted a Dylan Dog story. Just ordered it online. Super excited !
Knowing Michel Fiffe's deep relationship with offbeat 1980s DC characters, your Atari Force Dart comission is PERFECT.
As good as it gets. Every piece in your Jaimie collection is so well chosen, it's a joy to look at!
HA ! I had a feeling that absolutely perfect John Hicklenton piece wouldn't be your last. Beautiful. Welcome to the club.
Very very nice piece by one of a tiny handful of artists who truly own the zeitgeist. Great all arround.
Le Garage Hermetique is my desert island Moebius. Incredible!
Harkham is truly great and doesn't get the wide recognition he deserves. Icing on the cake: a letter by Dan Nadel, who was the editor/publisher of PictureBox, the best US indy publisher of the '00s, and a mention of Frank Santoro, a comic author in his own right and an amazing comics critic. This page is a real snapshot of the best this era had to offer.
Loved this series when it was published in Métal Hurlant. Very cool to see this on CAF!
A perfect spread from one of Garcia-Lopez most underated runs. Congratulations !
Absolutely wonderful !
Ha, you must type quicker than lightning ! Very nice.
More and more convinced that, when it comes to mainstream US "boys" comics, he is the absolute of his genetation.
