Description

Reginald Birch (1856-1943) was an English-born and American-raised illustrator who career spanned decades, with work in both books and magazines. This fine pen & ink illustration is marked �Victor the Pirate� on the reverse, and while I have not come up with a definitive place of publication, I believe that it may be from The Last Pirate: Tales from the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas�, published in 1934. Stylistically, the work fits Birch�s work from that period. In any event, this near 11�x 8� ink illustration is in Fine+ condition, and is bargain-priced at $50.00 + 8.00 Priority shipping. Signed on the left side of the illustration.
