Bill Mauldin (1921-2003) needs no introduction to anyone on my mailing list. Simply put, he was the greatest wartime cartoonist of the 20th century, one who was quite impactful to the famed EC war comics, as well as the TV show M*A*S*H*. And if you haven�t done so already, please consider checking out my Mauldin website: https://billmauldinart.com It�s a labor of love, devoted primarily to soldier-signed copies of Mauldin�s rare self-published �Sicily Sketch Book�. But I digress. I�m pleased to be able to offer a wonderful original Mauldin editorial cartoon from 1961. The cartoon features Arthur Dean, a New York lawyer who served as the chief U.S. negotiator at the Geneva disarmament conference in the early 1961. Mauldin depicts Dean blowing on a small fire, trying to keep the nuclear test talks alive. Mauldin titled the piece �Springtime in Geneva�, but the St. Louis Dispatch ran the piece without a caption on May 10, 1961. Mauldin gifted the piece to Dean, signing and inscribing it to him in 1961. The cartoon measures 15�x 11�� and was either drawn on heavy illustration board or was laid down to the board. The piece is in solid Fine+ condition, with only minor edge toning. $600.00 + 16.00 shipping.
