DescriptionWho doesn't love the great George Lichty (1905-1983), he of the wonderfully juicy slap-dash ink style? Why, everybody loves the ink-slinger deluxe! George Lichty may have been the slingiest ink-slinger of ‘em all! As a matter of fact, my latest Ink Slinger’s blog post is all about the great Lichty: George Lichty Ink-Slingers Article Lichty was one of the great expressionists in comic strip history, with freewheeling brush work and characterizations. I'm pleased to offer a terrific Grin and Bear It panel from September 16, 1964, featuring one of Lichty’s most beloved characters, Senator Snort! In this case, the good senator is speaking in front of the Campus Conservatives for Snort, with his aide stating: “You’ll go over big with these young conservatives, senator, if you attack all handout programs…except allowances, of course!” The drawing is delicious, with that wonderfully calligraphic brush line of Lichty’s, supported by some deft litho crayon toning. 11"x 9". The piece is in solid Fine condition, with the usual toning from age. You can see some old glue staining on the upper and lower margins, outsite of the art area.
