DescriptionDon Orehek (1928-2022) was one of those unheralded cartoonists who simply drew funny. The Brooklyn-born cartoonist drew for many of the major magazines, illustrated over 30 books, and drew for King Features. This wonderful magazine cartoon features a husband and wife, with the wife exclaiming, “Of course you find retirement boring…you found work boring…” The drawing is terrific, especially the figure of the man, with his pot belly and bathing suit pulled way, way up. There are nice touches of ink wash added to the line work, giving greater depth and volume to the piece. The piece is signed at the bottom, then inscribed and signed to fellow cartoonist Jim Whiting at the top. It is dated 1989. Measuring 8½”x 11”, the cartoon is in solid Fine condition. $50.00 + 9.00 first class shipping. SOLD!Social/Sharing |
