DescriptionA page from my favorite Comic Book from 2011.Mettle and Hazmat were my favorite characters from Avengers Academy. I 'shipped' them as the kids say. This page and the page that follows have a really sweet moment between the two kids. One who thinks no on can stand to look at his face, the other, who would literally end any normal boy she made physical contact with. But Mettle, it turns out is no ordinary boy. And on the following page, they decide, why don't we give a relationship a shot? I wasn't too happy with Mettle's ultimate fate in Avengers Arena, but I'll always have fond memories of this 'Super-Hero Prom' issue of Avengers Academy. The entire series was excellently written with love and care by Christos Gage. Social/Sharing |

Guess now it's with Mettle
Can't back out, can't back out, no
Hazmat's ready for the night of nights
The night of nights, alright
Don't panic
Panic
Now do we have to dress up for the prom
Dude, the Sean Chen pencils are choice
Yeah it's the night of all nights
Hanna look just right
Drawing to impress the boys
Do I want classic, or vintage, or plain
Chen's Avengers
I think this face is too skully, too tight
It makes me look weird
Should I go movie star glamorous
Writing so sweet
Don't know, but no one Mettle wear the same dress as she
It's the night of prom nightmares
It's the night of prom dreams
It's too late to back out of it
Hey, makeovers, massages
Don't know who Christos Gage is
Been waiting all our lives for this
Academy the night (can't wait)
To Avengers (oh, man)
Come on now, big fun (alright)
Academy the night (I guess)
The last Avenger (lucky us)
We'll never, ever, ever, forget

Avengers Academy was a great series that I read monthly from the first issue to the last issue. I understand why you enjoyed this issue so much.
Avengers Arena was an abomination. I HATED IT. That's not something you'll hear me say about too many comics.

Agreed. Academy was great. Arena was a big disappointment.

Great looking art. I love that 2nd panel. Due to having quite a bit of art for sale from this series via Andrew Hennessy, it made me curious and I ended up readin a few issues. I have to say, for an Avengers series I never see people talking about nor hunting down art from, the few issues I read were really fun. Were this industry ever in better health, it would be nice if they'd put series like this into collected volumes, as I'd love to read the whole thing.

There are 3 'complete collections' that exist, but they don't seem to be in constant print, thus are more expensive on the aftermarket.
Digital reading might be the more accessable method at the moment.

Great page from Sean and Scott! I, also, was a huge fan of Avengers Academy.

Ah, young romance... And destruction all on one page. Lots of fun.
