DescriptionNice to see the Young Americans step up and defeat the Nazis. The stereotyping of the African-American team member is not appropriate but, sad to say, it was not uncommon to see this kind of depiction and poor grammar in the early days of comic book publishing. Though he is shown as brave and a full member of the team, the depiction is sad and depressing to be sure.Tne entire story is from the Jim Steranko collection. Social/Sharing |

These kids might be in the Young American club, but we can see some Americans are deemed lesser and aren't going to be given a chance to participate. A piece of history that should be given context as these comics did shape the youth of America who now are part of its ingrained institutions.
