DescriptionAge of Resistance - Kylo Ren 1 is the ninth and final one-shot in the canon comic book anthology series Star Wars: Age of Resistance. Anakin Skywalker casts a long shadow. Kylo travels to a planet in Wild Space (beyond the outer rim of the galaxy) which is under attack from the Benathy, a warlike alien species that have been encroaching on First Order space. This is an enemy and battlefield previously confronted by Darth Vader. Can Kylo Ren ever escape his infamous grandfather's reputation? Or in this instance will he succeed where Darth Vader failed?Cory Hamscher inks over Leonard Kirk printed blue lines. Cory did not tape the boards together butted edge to edge, but rather with about a half-inch overlap. Note un-inked snippets of blue line along the left margin of page 06. Just a note on process as Cory was working out the clean transition of the long horizontal panels between the pages. My scans and image gluing do not do his actual alignment justice. Social/Sharing |

Wow, I love the landscape orientation of the top two tiers. This DPS looks more like a Star Wars Sunday strip! All those At-Ats and Storm Troopers looks o ominously cool, too. By the way, are those more modern looking Storm Troopers in the top panel also called Storm Troopers, or do they go by another name?

Technically it would just be a distinction of who they are in service of - Galactic Empire stormtroopers (Darth Vader era) versus First Order stormtroopers (Kylo Ren era). Portions of that story show the parallel paths of Darth and Kylo in mirrored panels like the upper two here.

I met a sequel woman
Rey took my art away
She said, I've had it comin' to me
Yes I wanted double page
I think that Hamscher's ink is good drawin'
Kylo took what I could get
Mmm, ooh, ooh
He paneled me with big and wide
And said, you ain't Darth Vader yet
B-B-B-Baby, you just ain't been n-n-n-nothin' yet
Here's Kylo Ren you'll cosplay Vader as Ben
B-B-B-Baby, you just ain't been n-n-n-nothin' yet
Nothin' yet, you ain't been around, that's what I told her

Comparing the images of the two armies of evil across those two top panels is a ton of fun. Super cool piece.

That is an absolute fantastic DPS. So epic and it truly captures the imagination. Really one of my favorite Star Wars pieces I have seen yet. Congrats Jeff.

Wow, what an epic DPS! Love the battlefield comparisons of the Empire and First Order times. Very cinematic.

Wow this is quite the impressive spread!! I'm a big fan of Leonards work and see him at the local Cons frequently. Didn't know he worked on this book. Totally crushed it!

That he did! And the way he handled the parallel visual storytelling between Vader and Kylo's stories was well executed throughout.
