DescriptionDC Comics Presents #31-March, 1981 "The Deadliest Show on Earth" Dick Grayson visits the circus with his date and runs into his old friend Waldo the Clown. Waldo the Clown is the character responsible for introducing Jason Todd (the 2nd Robin) to Dick Grayson (the original Robin) since he was a mutual friend of The Flying Todds and The Flying Graysons. Waldo the Clown appeared in a lot of Batman stories due to his connection with both Robins. A beautiful page from the artistic team of JLGL and Giordano. Writer: Gerry Conway Penciller: Jose Luis Garcia Lopez Inker: Dick Giordano Social/Sharing |

Just clear proof of the talent and skill of JLGL. Wow!

The Dream Team! What's particularly wonderful about this page to me is the seemingly effortless way JLGL and Giordano distiguish between background and foreground.

Dig this festive page, and a non-horrifying clown for once!

I took a little trip to my old clown
I only stopped to just look around
And as I jumped over the thorough-fare
There was Waldo playing everywhere
The comic came to bring in the Todds
You got Dick Grayson now in the art
Garcia Lopez, I fell in love
I guess boy wonder floats from above
Oh circus feeling
My art was Ringling
The danger’s bringing
The birds are Robins

I didn't realize how significant Waldo the Clown was in the Robinverse. Very cool, and I really like this fun page!

Great page from the master. The staging in the first panel and all the expressions/body languages are exceptional.

A superb page that would look cluttered in the hands of anyone other than a master on the level of JLGL

Giordano was the perfect inker for Jose. Pages with these two are gold.
