DescriptionThis is the second Frank Frazetta Johnny Comet original strip I’ve owned, and it’s a vast improvement over the first.William Wray, a very talented artist himself, said it best: “That’s a great one --- you got the drama, you got the cute girl, and the comedy poses.” Social/Sharing |

It does display all three phases of Frazetta's talent.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a fantastic Frank Frazetta comic strip! This may be the best Johnny Comet strip I've seen anyone post! How do you beat that exploding race car? And that gorgeous girl? And the big butts of those two race officials? Answer: Youi don't. Gorgeous art by Fazetta during his spectacular run on Johnny Comet. I wish it had run for many years longer so I could have read it in the funny pages. Sigh. Now I can only appreciate it in comic art auctions and galleries. Great pick-up, congrats!

Frazetta's ability to pack so much energy and drama into just three panels is masterful. The crash in the first panel is pure motion. Frazetta’s dynamic lines make you feel the impact. Then there’s that stunning close-up of Jean Fargo. Her expression is so raw and emotional, you can almost hear her calling out! And the final panel has such great urgency, with Pop and Sparky rushing in, adding to the tension. A nice showcase of Frazetta’s storytelling and artistic brilliance.

Beautiful daily Greg. This definitely has all the elements you would want in a Johnny Comet. I really love the strips with the midget racing car action. It's incredible that Frazetta was only twenty four when he drew these, with all of that skill on full display. Although this strip had a short lifespan, I've always considered it a high watermark in medium.

Love all three panels, but the last one is so fun! One of the most memorable JC dailies
