DescriptionBlack Science # 37 July 11th 2018"Later Than You Think, Part Three" pg 4 Pencils & Inks/ tones: Matteo Scalera Writer: Rick Remender Antimatter explosions threaten the Eververse in Black Science #37. In this beginning of the final arc of Black Science, Grant and Sara have been shown the collapse of seventy quadrillion dimensions due to antimatter detonations caused by alternate reality versions of themselves. It’s important to their daughter from another dimension, who they met a few issues ago, because she tried counseling them to stop seeking their children, which is what caused the first antimatter explosion. Good Ol’ Reckless Grant McKay Black Science is one of the best creations ever to come out of Rick Remender‘s mind, simply because of how much humanity he puts into the storylines. Who wouldn’t dive to the center of the universe to find their missing children? As the Grant and Sara we’ve been following are told about the antimatter collapse, they bring in the pillar drill that caused the collapse in the first place. Grant fakes illness at learning of the quadrillions of deaths, and sneaks off to steal the recently impounded pillar. The Center of the Onion The McKays leap to the core of the Onion, the place where “the first life made the first decision”, which made everything else in all dimensions occur. God is referenced, but Grant asserts that it would actually be the closest thing to it. It turns out that the core is populated by weird winged mantis kinda guys, referred to in the letters column as Ultragod, Infinisatan, and Super Elvis. These ultragods all sit at screens and watch various events occurring in various dimensions, and one notices Grant and Sara blasting thru to the core, eventually leaping out of its dimensional viewer, in a nifty piece of art from Italian wonder Mateo Scalera. Black Science Finally Gets To its Finale With only five more issues until the big 42, this meeting of Ultragods and the McKays will surely become some wild stuff; we’ve seen literally infinite wonders and horrors on the trip thus far. It’s sure to be some high-tension plotlines coming at us. Here’s hoping the obvious: The McKays find their kids, fix the Eververse, and Black Science ends on an nice, uplifting note. Social/Sharing |

Just like the opening of the Buck Rogers Gil Gerard show, the journey through space and time using concentric circles are a striking visual device for sci-fi fans. Scalera is fully in command of the medium laying out this ambitious splash with cascading images of our protagonists and their dialogue all along their journey.

You nailed it. I almost bought the Dynamite Solar #1 cover for the same reason.
