DescriptionThe Batman commission I did not know I wanted. Paul Smith is an artist I mostly read during his short, yet classic run on Uncanny X-Men in the 80s (as well as his pitch perfect collaboration with James Robinson on DC's the Golden Age in the 90s). With X-Men pages being quite hard to find, I thought this Batman commission was a pretty unique occasion to add a piece by Paul. He put a great deal of effort in bringing texture about everywhere on the page, leading to one of the best pieces I have seen by him. Thanks to Ari on this one !Social/Sharing |

Very nicely done to give variation to the theme from a whole new perspective. Smith's inking here is more elaborate and detailed giving Batman and his city a lived in feel.

Great pickup! The detail is amazing! I was admiring this and probably would have bought it myself if I were a bigger Batman fan.

Can't remember when Paul put this much work into a piece. When it comes to texture, detail, and mood, it's about as good a PMS piece as you could get. A real masterpiece. Wow!

They know I am on tonight, my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel it's right
All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see, baby, this is perfection? (Shapiro, Shapiro)

Even if you removed Batman from the picture, it would still be an incredible piece. Smith's work here is spectacular!

I am absolutely awestruck by this! Batman appears absolutely stunning, there is no doubt about it. However, the impeccable perspective and the captivating mood it exudes truly elevate this commission to an extraordinary level. It is undeniably a powerful piece!
