DescriptionFrom the one-shot Hulk and Quasimodo #1 pg 11 (I believe!) Autographed by Steve Mitchell. A friend of mine was in New York and ran into Steve in the elevator at Marvel Comics and 'somehow' talked Steve out of it, as the story goes!Social/Sharing |

I remember the one shot on a spinner rack, I was talked into buying it by thumbing through and seeing that Quasimodo was buff and had worked out in his gym at the clocktower. Otherwise, I would have thought, why would Hulk pick on another tortured soul? The center panel in shadow is a very striking transition to the Hulk panels. I think Hulk fans love it when he emerges from the muck, beacuse that's usually means it was his lowpoint in the story and he's now in comeback mode.

I remember the Swole Quasimodo issue. PEDs were a real problem in the 80s. Man, what a fun Sal Hulk action page. And Sal made a really nice layout design here, with that great 5th panel balancing out the page. Congrats!

A lovely page to have from that issue. The lower tier three-panel sequence is so typical of Sal, and the water flowing off the Hulk's hand is fabulous. Nice pickup!

WTF? Quasimodo and Hulk? A giant bat carrying the hunchback? WTF? WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA? Quasimodo would be squashed flatter than if he fell all the way down from the bell tower, with one Hulk smash. Buscema must have thought this the nadir of his career. The arts lovely. His stuff always is.
