| Q: | Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why? |
| A: | I'm still kind of on a honeymoon! I love them all, the John Wayne's, DeZuniga's, my O'Melia's! I really like the SSOC 34 page. What makes it special to me is that I've always had a fondness for Alfredo Alcala's loving touches in the series. I was surprised to find out that Carmine Infantino had actually penciled it not John Buscema! Unless you knew the page was Conan you wouldn't know it until the last panel where the figure hears a scream and replies, "What in Crom's name!" Awesome! |
| Q: | Please tell us a little about yourself. |
| A: | I'm a German immigrant, I came over when I was 9, it was through comics that I learned English! My friend kept funneling all these things at me and eventually I figured out what Reed Richard's Ultimate Nullifier was all about. I served in the Air Force for 26 years. Now I help transitioning Service members figure out their VA benefits and teach at a university. |
| Q: | How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start? |
| A: | That started kind of by accident. In the early 1980's a friend of mine's older brother went to New York on business. He was a collector along with us when we were young. He went to check out Marvel Comics HQ and ran into Dave Morrell in the Elevator and somehow talked him out of a couple of pages he had. One of those was a Hulk vs Quasimodo (that I have in my gallery.) When he got back, he decided to give it to me! I've had it and hadn't really thought much about it for a number of years then about 5 years ago a Cloak and Dagger page got me excited on eBay(in my gallery) because it had 4 characters I liked Ghost Rider, Spiderman and Cloak & Dagger. Finally, I always aspired to get a "Frazetta" then last year the John Wayne number 8 pg.28 popped up I got it, I found CAF, Heritage and Metropolis and here I am!!! |
| Q: | How do you display/store your collection at home? |
| A: | A number are on the wall in my study, some at my job! I cycle a few here and there! |
| Q: | What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions? |
| A: | 1. John Wayne Adventure Comics # 8 "Ugly Duckling Bandit" pages 2. Alfredo Alcala Savage Sword pieces 3. Bernie Wrightson Batman/Horror 4. Tim Bradstreet 5. Gene Colan Doctor Strange/Dracula |
