DescriptionUPDATE CORRECTION: This isn't Dani Moonstar but Hela addressing one of her DARK VALKYRES, during the same time that DM was going through her transition into becoming one of her Dark Valkyries. Still makes me reminisce about the time she worked for Hela and became part of her legion. Excited to have this cool piece for Hela and Valkyrie history.Original Post: My first piece featuring Dani Moonstar and Hela. Two characters, in my real world work life, I got to interact with on two separate shows. I was fortunate to be able to do VFX on set work for the full run of NEW MUTANTS (where I got to see Blu Hunt portray Dani Moonstar for her incarnation) and was blessed to be on set for Cate Blanchett's test as Hela for THOR RAGNAROK. This gorgeous piece of art from Bret Blevins and inks from Al Williamson illustrate the horror and beauty of both of these characters. We get to see Dani Moonstar's (Mirage) incarnation of becoming a Valkyrie of Death for Hela. I really love the perspective and style given to Dani's character, she has transformed from the sweet caring modest young mutant leader to the deadly driven defiant deviant working for Death herself. Hela is depicted perfectly seated on her bony throne of power as she taunts Dani to do her bidding. It's superb when finding little treasures like this that bring together so many elements of both a personal experience and nostalgia from my youth. Social/Sharing |

Such a sad arc, that pretty much ends the New Mutants. But beautifully drawn and written by Blevins and Weezie. Great piece.

A menacing Hela there! I LOVE Bret Blevins. Definitely underrated IMO from a pure illustration AND storytelling standpoint. Great example here from his killer work on New Mutants! Congrats!
