Description

This is the May. Day 12. Thirty-One days of Star Wars continues...

"Star Wars: The Weapon of a Jedi" (German: "Die Waffe eines Jedi") is a four-part comic book published by Panini Verlag and serialized in "Star Wars - The Official Magazine" throughout 2017. It was written by Alec Worley and drawn by Ruair� Coleman, with colors by Chris O'Halloran. It is also an adaptation of Jason Fry's 2015 junior novel "The Weapon of a Jedi: A Luke Skywalker Adventure." In the USA, IDW reprinted the series as "Star Wars Adventures: The Weapon of a Jedi" as a two-issue miniseries in 2021.

I didn't read this story until after I had spotted Ruairi's art over at GeoffMart.com. But the Y-Wing, the droids, and Luke's caricature immediately tugged on my Nelvana cartoon from the Star Wars Holiday Special nostalgia strings. Was not hard to pull the trigger on this page, and a couple others I'll post up as we wind down this week.

Over a third of the way in, I'm still feeling Star Warsy true believers!

Dog fights in outer space always provide cool visuals. The top half of this page in particular is really nice!

I opened the link as I'm always wont to do, looked down to see who the original artist was and the first word that caught my eye was Houdini. So the first thought in my mind is "Oh yeah, he's going old school rap/hip hop! Maybe soon we'll get some Kurtis Blow!". But then I noticed that the video looked very modern and had nothing but young, white boys in it. That was the moment I thought: "This is not the Kurtis Blow you are looking for."

I downloaded it from Comixology and read through it real quick before trying to pick among the art pages. Not sure how close it followed the original YA novel, but was a pretty good Luke solo story.
