DescriptionIn 1991, I sold a number of my prized comic books to be able to pay for a limo rental to bring my date to prom. This was one of those comics, bought off the rack at my LCS in 1987. To be able to hold the art in my hands is more than special for me.Took a lot of firepower to land this... My sincerest thanks to Douglas for helping broker this deal. Social/Sharing |

'In 1991, I sold a number of my prized comic books to be able to pay for a limo.' I expect it took considerably more, factoring in inflation of course, to land this. The cost of a limo perhaps? Lol.

The holy grail of the Punisher regular series art. Janson created such a powerful and memorable cover. It's awesome to see the original.

There are only a select few covers that are universally iconic. This is definitely one of them! HUGE congrats on this epic grail piece!!!

I love this so much! Paired with your Punisher splash, these are some pretty amazing additions to your awesome collection. I love the overlay for this cover as well. Those citylights add so much to the atmosphere of the cover. Huge congrats!

Stellar and memorable 1st issue cover of the ongoing series by Klaus Janson! Recall being a little late to the party on this one, and not starting collecting this series until issue 6; but I picked this up as a back issue and just love it! Love the comic logic of Punisher shooting this guy in the face with a bazooka from 3 feet and not doing himself in too! lol Just a great cover! Congrats, and thanks for sharing!

Oh wow--so awesome! I remember being so excited when this serious came out--at a time when it was still rare and special to hold a Punisher comic book in your hands. And 12 year old me immediately felt a little bit older picking this one up! Such great compositon, such an impactful image--congrats!

Wow. CLASSIC image that's seared into many of our noodles. Don't want to be sitting in that room :) Love that the rope is going through the title lettering, and the white ink and zipatone accents must be fun to pore over. Congrats!

Impactful cover here as well. 1987 was a year that I jumped back into comics with a vengeance after not buying new for a few years (read my buddies stuff primarily during this time). The visual of this art always transports me back to a simpler, comic-crazed time in my life, and bowling - for some reason ... lots of bowling in 87. Sincerest congrats and thanks so much for sharing this gem!

Congrats on landing this great cover. I remember when it sold on EBay almost 20 years ago. Kick myself that I didn't try harder to grab it back then. If you ever decide to sell or trade it please let me know.
