Description

Very, very happy day when I got news from Sketch Ninja Sensei John Higashi that he had this beauty in hand from Jan Duursema. When I found out John was going to the Star Wars Celebration 3 show in 2005 and that Jan was attending, I practically begged him to try to get a sketch of either Aayla Secura or Quinlan Vos from Jan as I absolutely adore the SW comics Jan does with John Ostrander. John had told me that Jan didn't do a lot of commissions, but he'd give it a shot. He talked to her about it, she said she wasn't drawing at the show but to try her again at SDCC. Pretty much same story at SDCC - try again at Mid-Ohio. Imagine my surprise when he says not only did she come through, but she came through in WATERCOLOR! He confessed to almost swiping this one for his own Star Wars collection. I'm so grateful to both Jan and John for this one - a true prize piece in my collection of art. Watercolors on 9x12 Bristol.

This is an amazing piece! I'm jealous just seeing it, I can only imagine it in person! Aayla is one of my favs too, lucky man!!!

You're right, it really is a beauty to see in person - especially since I was expecting a pencil piece. Watercolor wasn't what I envisioned but boy, what an amazing surprise ;) Thanks for the comments and glad you like her!
