Thanks for the comment! I don't know how to contact Scot directly - I purchased the pencils from ebay seller "claudetteeaton", I'm guessing that's his wife. Best bet is to try to find her on ebay.
***UPDATE*** - This piece was indeed published in the TwoMorrows tribute book for Dave Cockrum, on page ONE, no less :)
Wow, what a great theme idea! And of course great work from Jeff! Roland
Sprouse just brings it with every doggone piece he does. Thank *you* Mssr. Fogger for helping me get my hands on this one!
Indeed! Dooney is great at bringing The Sexy to his artwork. Really great guy to deal with to. Thanks for the comments!
I agree - what a great way to get into art collecting. Thanks for the comments!
For me, the "story" that goes along with a piece of art can be almost as important as the art itself - I love knowing the wheres and whens, the funny stuff. So I try to pass that along when I post stuff I've collected, so others can get in on the experience. Glad you enjoyed my ramblings and most importantly this beautiful piece of art by one of the best in the business!
Finally. No offense to whoever the prior owner was, but this one's finally in its *true* home since I just don't think anyone else could love it as much as you will/do - huge congratulations, Mike!
"Like" isn't a strong enough word, Andy - she's still one of my most beloved pieces even after all these years!
You're right, it really is a beauty to see in person - especially since I was expecting a pencil piece. Watercolor wasn't what I envisioned but boy, what an amazing surprise ;) Thanks for the comments and glad you like her!
Simply fantastic. Great to see Geoff on S.S., one of my all-time favorite comics!
Hey, you stole my Franchesco! Ms. Marvel idea, Cosmic Cube and all ( http://qurls.com?i=1255 )! I was planning to have him do a current costume version as a companion piece. You should give it back... and by that I mean give me this beautiful piece of artwork ;) Great pick-up!
As great as the whole drawing is, I'd have to go with Harley's having Club Soda ready to get the stains out as my favorite part. Funny, funny stuff! Great job, Tom!
Funny comment from Brian Stelfreeze - he was looking through my portfolio and I mentioned that this piece by Rude was what got me diving wholeheartedly into collecting art; Brian's response: "Man, Steve f*cked you pretty bad then! What'd you ever do to him, run over his dog?" Makes you wonder if these artists have any idea the kind of addiction they start when they do that first con sketch for someone ;)
I agree - Gene *rarely* disappoints! Really nice, nice guy too! Glad you like the piece, John!
Magic Eight Ball sez ::shakes:: "Better luck next year" - sorry dude ;P Glad you enjoyed the artwork, Eric!
Heh! Yep, quite a wife indeed :D And I know, hard to believe it's taken me so long to get an Adams piece - I've only met him once at a con and he wasn't sketching, and it's not like his stuff is inexpensive by any means ;) I'm just glad I stumbled across the right piece when I had exactly the right amount of money all at the right time. Thanks Eric!
Yep, Michael Eury (EIC, I believe, at TwoMorrows) approached me about using it months ago for that particular issue, then he directly got in touch with Arthur and got his okay to print it, so voila, I now own a published cover! Thanks for looking!
I'm very much of the opinion that Kerry's covers were the best part of that 1988 mini :) Thanks!
Glad she arrived safely to her (I'm assuming) permanent home - can't imagine anybody who'll love her more :)
Funny thing about this one Michael - you were commenting on how much you liked my Franchesco Ms. Marvel, but this Dooney piece of yours (which I absolutely love, btw) happens to be what I had printed out for Franchesco to use as costume reference! Small world, eh?
Heh, thanks Michael! I think Francheso really outdid himself with her, and he seemed quite proud of how she turned out. With very good reason, IMO. Thanks for the comments!
Um, sure, "sweet", "mean", it's all subjective ;P I can't believe my own wife's mean enough to keep this from me... >:/
...and that's why I called this one "Stalking Bryan Hitch", you omni-present arthunter you ;)
Thanks for the comments Lee! I wish Mini-Marvels was an ongoing title - I'd love to see regular shenanigans from Spidey and Hawkeye and the gang!
Thank you! Shame I couldn't crank out a better scan on this one, it really is much prettier in person.
Adam drawing a winged scantily-clothed beautiful woman - what could be more perfect a combination? Thank you for the compliments Chad! As for who is next... that would be telling ;P
Yeah, Gene's the best! I'm not exactly the world's biggest WW fan, but I sure loved this piece and couldn't pass it up! Thanks Joel!
Thanks Bobby! This really has grown to be one of my absolute favorites of all my Moy pieces!
Brian, I agree, great deal - probably less than a penny per stroke on this one. I can't imagine how long it must have taken to put in all that detail!
I agree wholeheartedly, Jeff - Art has an amazing talent for textures and making his monsters/critters "feel" right. He has more talent than should be allowed by law ;P Thanks for the comments Jeff!
You're welcome Frederic - I'm glad she's in a good home! Be kind to her!
Unbelievable is right, at least to me - I *never* thought I'd be able to score one of these! I *still* can't believe it's MINE, ALL MINE!!! ::ahem:: Thanks for the comments Terry!
Everyone should have a Benes! If you have the opportunity to buy an inked version, it isn't the real deal, I have NOT sold this and will NOT sell it, so any inked versions you come across were done via lightbox or blueline. Knowing is half the battle!
That's one fancy "doodle", Tommy! If I remember correctly, you had a heckuva hangover when you drew it, so no wonder you don't recall it ;P Even though you don't remember, it's still one of my favorite "children" in my collection - thank you for drawing 'em for me!
Thank you! Even after all these years, I'm still crazy about this piece.
Thanks, man! I think Al really knocked it out of the park on this piece.
UPDATE: This piece was just published in BACK ISSUE #9, April 2005 issue, by TwoMorrow Publishing, p.55, very first piece in the "Pro2Pro" interview between Steve Rude and Mike Baron!
This piece is now officially published - it appears in the "Sketches" section of SPYBOY: FINAL EXAM!
Y'know, I'm not the biggest fan of Hal, but I *love* this piece - it may just be my favorite of my Willinghams as well. Thanks for the kind words!
Pop was really happy with this one - he wants to use it in an upcoming Spyboy collection! Who am I to say no?
I asked Scott what this piece was drawn for, and he sez: "To answer your question this piece did see print as part of a battle royale special depicting Malibu characters vs Marvel characters in "fight to the death" scenarios. This was about the time when Marvel acquired Malibu in a bloodless coup. Everyone else had shots of characters beating the crap out of each other, but when I got the assignment I thought, 'What if Choice and Black Widow met and instead of fighting decided to get some coffee and talk instead.' Thus the drawing. It was the only one that didn't end in someone kicking the other's ass."
