DescriptionWhen you're sitting on your hands not bidding, your imagination goes wild with numbers, and reason/accountability become more fluid things. A wandering mind leads to an empty bank account.I absolutely flipped for this cover when it was revealed. Not only were the final colors incredible, the OA was so good they ran it as a separate variant too. When this was revealed and made available, many good friends wrote to me encouraging me to acquire it. The timing was bad and the price was steep, so I had to wait. Miraculously, this gem sat - polished and ready for mounting, but unclaimed. More miraculously, time passes, and the steep price starts to come within reach. Preparing for the auction gave me some fresh insight, and this is the road I chose. The textures are spot on, and the play of light off the various surface helps define the ethereal nature of Dream. The composition is that J3 magic we've all come to love - with lines of symmetry and suffering pulling the eye in perfectly. It's also nice to finally own a piece of published Locke & Key art, which is not the easiest thing to acquire. It's tough to figure out what to say. I know I'm looking at something amazingly done, I love Locke and Key, and how bizarre this cover is! It makes you think, and that's a pretty good compliment.

As an illustrator, JH3 is hard to top. As a designer, it's almost impossible. Well bought, ML!

It's hard to add anything that you haven't already put in your description. J3's use of light is ethereal, and I can only imagine what this looks like in person. Congrats on the search, the hunt and the score.

Beautiful combination of techniques signifying the two universes being intertwined and the door which can be unlocked to bridge them together. It works here thematically and visually.

Whoa, the imagery on this piece is so surreal and in ethereal! I loved Locke and Key, but I've never heard of this. Did DC and IDW actually join forces on a one shot combining both of these properties? So cool!

Fantastic cover, combining two elements best known from each series, with Dream's mask and the Anywhere Key. Didn't realize this went for auction, but was sitting unsold on the JHW3 wesite. L&K art is nigh impossible to find, and this is a great example. Congrats!

Is it weird to say the shadowy tendrils are my favorite part? My word, those are executed well! And the tortured souls around that door are an amazing touch. I also have to mention the Sandman helmet and that hand are amazingly detailed and rendered. It's kind of like having two focal points, but it works fantastically for composition. I can see why this has you all atwitter. Excellent cover. Congrats on landing it after all that time!

Gorgeous cover! JH Williams' art is absolutely stunning. I love the textures created by the ink wash on the helmet. And I am struck by the contrast of the blacks and greys against the whites of the hand and the key. What a beautiful piece!
