DescriptionTaking a break from our regularly scheduled programming to bring you this lovely piece by Dike Ruan. His color work is as dynamic as his sequential black and white and I'm very pleased to finally add an example. This is one of those pieces that I was tracking at auction but got distracted by other shiny objects at the time. Following the auction, however, I did a trade with another fine collector and it was offered to me. Serendipity! Thanks PL! It's Sandman Day - May your dreams be infused with mefloquine. The Dike lines, drew back the Sandman
To see what Gaiman that I thought, I knew
Far, far away, colors were sweeping
But the world was sleeping, and his Dream will do
I wore my coat, kimono lining
Bright colors shining, Vertigo and new
Visual feast, the dawn was breaking
And the world was bidding, auction Dream fell through
A crash of drums, Arabian Nights
My Gaiman coat flew out of sight
The colors faded into darkness
I was left alone
May I return to art collecting
Mikail is playing in a game of you
PL and I, we are still trading
No hesitating, Dike Dream come true

Wow this is really beautiful. And I know what you mean about getting distracted by other shiny objects during an auction. Glad you could still get this piece after missing it the first time.

Man, Ruan with that color rendering...ethereal quality that fits the subject perfectly. So many hues throughout. Congrats!

Wow! What an phenomenal illustration by Dike Ruan! This is a whole 'nother level beyond comic art. The imagery is surreal and appropriately, dreamlike. The look of the painting is utterly etheral, but maybe that's what's to be expected in a painting inspired by Dreams. The color choices are superb--Love the purples against the oranges and the subtle gradation of tones on the planets/orbs. Dream himself appears to be floating amidst the planets, drifting silently across the cosmos. What an utterly inspired work from Dike Ruan, maybe the best I've ever seen from him. Wonderful pick-up, congrats!
