I love this pickup. Dragons of badass. Gives off strong GoT vibes to me. Congrats, Stevie!

Wars have settled on the North
and dragons ride the skies,
"Now is the time for wisdom,"
say the wise and nearly wise.
Now in the belly of winter,
when ground and sky are gray,
here in the heart of sleeping snow,
now is the time to say
"Here in the heart of battle,
the time to be brave is at hand.
Now most things are larger than
the promise of woman to man."
yes to the sprouting vallenwood
in the green countryside,
for these things are far larger than
a man's word to his bride.
But you and I, through burning plains,
through darkness of the earth,
affirm this world, its people,
the heavens that gave them birth,
Through these promises we keep,
forged in the yawning night,
proved in the presence of heroes
and the prospect of spring light,
the breath that passes between us,
this altar where we stand,
all those things made larger by
the promise of woman to man.
the children will see moons and stars
where now the dragons ride,
and humble things made larger by
a man's word to his bride.

If someone could sing this at one of those Renaissance Fairs...

That dragon better watch out for the Iron Fleet. Great one!

Anything other than a frontal assault against their fixed long-range weaponry should work! Oh, wait...

This is a beauty! It fully realizes the imaginations of anyone who ever rolled the dice and got a basic set.

An absolutely splandid piece, Steve! I LOVE how open it is on the right side, and how your eye slides down the shape of the hillside (and then is jet-propelled forwards by the dragon!) to "jump off" into the open imaginings of infinite possibilities. This feels like a universal "classic moment" that any gamer can relate to. Your gallery of incredible gaming art continues to blossom, Steve! Congrats, and thank you for sharing all of these with us!

Lightning Bolt! Lightning Bolt! Man, I dig all this D&D you post. Super cool. The fighters better run for cover, tho. Those blades aren't going to do much against a dragon. +5 on all rolls. Congrats!

Never got into D&D, but always appreciated the genre and this is fantasy art at its finest!

Nice Steve. I was a big fan of Dragonlance and Ravenloft back in the day. Any Takhisis OA out there?

Takhisis is very tough. The iconic OG covers/paintings easily 6-figures at this point. Was fortunate to pick up Francesca's work from the recent 5th ed. book! https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1930057
