DescriptionHitman is one of my favorite series. It was the perfect marriage of writer and artist. For half a decade, Garth Ennis and John McCrea crafted the story of Tommy Monaghan and his friends in the Cauldron, a neighborhood in Gotham where even Batman feared to tread. Tommy and his friends, all contract killers, held superheroes in low esteem (with the exception of Superman). This cover commemorates Tommy's run-in with the Green Lantern of the 1990s, Kyle Rayner. A great series, greatly missed.Social/Sharing |

With Ennis' writing in the DCU, there were plenty of irreverent ideas floating in his head. These early issues of 90's DC's new series often had guest stars and crossovers because that were always rushed to series and had to establish their place in universe. McCrea does great gun blazing covers and this Green Lantern guest star cover has him at his best.

The 1990s's were a fun time at DC Comics and the Bloodlines crossover that gave birth to Hitman was no exception. Ennis and McCrea made magic together because the book was given the space to find its own weird voice and the result is a saga that is still remembered fondly, nearly a quarter century later. Thanks, as always, for your comment.

Hitman and GL comin; atcha! I like how Hal is sorta upside down here, and the poses and perspective lend to a strong sense of movement. Definitely makes you wanna open up the book and see what's up! Congrats, A K!

Man, who didn't love Hitman in the '90s? Garth Ennis and John McCrea told great stories with tons of action! This cover is just a perfect example of how cool Hitman was! Beautifully drawn and masterfully inked!

Hitman is the somewhat hidden gem in the resume of Garth Ennis. I wish it had the same following as Preacher did. I recently re-read the story and was impressed all over again with how funny and affectionate the stories and characters all are. Thanks for the comment, Bill!
