Description

Issue 30 of Boris the Bear was published by Smith's independently owned Nicotat Comics. Beautifully hand colored by James Dean Smith. Its cover is a shining example of an artist's evolution through innovation in the grind of necessity. My photo doesn't give the crisp of the lines and vibrancy preserved by Smith's choice of quality supplies the respect it or you all deserve. The title and text were done digitally but that patented Boris head in the banner is there giving us a peek at Borgan the Bearverine (see back cover for full on berserker).

This cover lodges itself into the psyche and persists to create deeper meaning with the passing of time as there is no shortage of strongmen and dictators in modern day. It is bittersweet that bright the colors are just as persistent as the problems that the cover expresses.
