Description

I love the texture Clay and Seth are able to evoke with their inks. (Clay and Seth are both credited as inkers for this issue, but I really have no idea if this is one of the pages Seth touched. That being said, I love it when he provides the finishes.)

While not a Batman, HiC or Bat/Cat page, this is the issue that first introduced me to Clay and Seth's work and made me a fan. For my money, Clay Mann draws the best Lois Lane in comics. Plus, this page contains most of the Mann page layout tropes, with an item in the foreground overlapping panels, extravagant background detail with all the ivy covering the barn, and a huge single-character-focused half splash to anchor the page. I think the placement of the 3rd panel is really clever too, turning panel 2 into 2 separate beats.

Completely agree with the textures brought to life in this page. In addition the anatomy is just so good in the first panel perspective. Amazing story telling with the pose and facial expressions.
